Monkey Boy Rides!

Chino and Mt. Baldy

With two nights in bf nowhere under my belt I decided to brave the traffic and head to Chino, CA located in the Los Angeles valley to go back to the Planes of Fame Aviation Museum.

For me Planes of Fame will always hold a special place in my heart. Years ago my dad took me away on a guy’s weekend down to this museum. The memories made with him that one weekend will last a lifetime. So it felt a little weird galavanting their without him. But none the less it was still awesome to go! It was a month to the day since I left my job at the flight school, so it was really nice to get my airplane/maintenance shop fix. The coolest thing about Planes of Fame is most of their collection is in flying condition or is in the process of being so. Therefore the smell of Avgas and hydraulic fluid is everywhere! Also since Steve Hinton is the president it means that it’s the home of the Reno Air Racer Voodoo (piloted by his son Hinton jr.).

After a few hours of soaking up all the coolness my mind turned to where I was going to stay in the land of insane costs. Well fortunately for me on the eastern edge of the city is the Angels National Forests. So I suited up and went for a super enjoyable ride up to Mt. Baldy in which I found an open site at the campground. Now I’m planning my departure of the area in order to head back north to the Bay Area for a few days. Looks like HYW 1 will be the chose road since I want to stop at Hurst Castle on my way up!
